Select the tab for the type of search. Each tab has everything you need to do to perform that type of search.

(Results of more than 500 will not return images.)

This search will show only accessions that have material that may be requested, including those not seasonally available.
You may list accessions with separators (commas or semicolons, as shown below) or by entering them on separate lines, such as

[Originally listed as Emei Shan.]Wild materialFull name as recorded at U.S. National Arboretum: Mahonia gracilipes. From the 2004 Heronswood Nursery catalog: "Mahonia gracilipes [DJHC 755] / An astounding and rather rare species of Mahonia in cultivation, of which I collected seed on Emei Shan in 1996. The compound leaves comprised of large leaflets are glabrous green above and shining, brilliant white beneath on the best clones, while the airy, spidery sprays of flowers, produced in late summer and autumn, are a lovely bicolor rose and yellow. Truly spectacular. It will be a long time before I forget the day I saw this growing in its native haunts, on a remarkable mountain in a remarkable country. For a shaded, protected site in zone 7, more fully exposed in zones 8 and above, provided rich soil and adequate water. 6 ft. Berberidaceae. W. China"2149806NA 73764

Received as Mahonia repens 'Esther Epstein'. Originally from Dr. Epstein, named after his wife. Examination of this accession shows features much closer to M. aquifolium than to M. repens, except for the glaucous abaxial leaf surface (but the glaucousness is lost in aged leaves, and the cells are glossy beneath, unlike in M. repens whose glaucousness does not wear off). Leaves are thickly leathery as in M. aquifolium; they are abaxially very glossy with impressed, netted veins, and lateral leaflets are lance-elliptic. The plant is short by M. aquifolium standards, but there is substantial overlap in height between M. aquifolium and M. repens. -SBL2146889NA 62010
