Select the tab for the type of search. Each tab has everything you need to do to perform that type of search.

(Results of more than 500 will not return images.)

This search will show only accessions that have material that may be requested, including those not seasonally available.
You may list accessions with separators (commas or semicolons, as shown below) or by entering them on separate lines, such as

7PI 688301'V4'Vicia faba L. W62018CultivarThe cross was made in April 2009 and a single F1 seed was planted in the greenhouse in Pullman. Sixteen seedswere harvested from the F1 plant and planted in the greenhouse. The 16 young F2 seedlings were transplanted to agarden area on WSU Pullman campus in March 2010 and matured seeds were harvested from these plants. Thirtyseeds from each of the nine selected F2 plants were planted as F3 families at both Pullman and Central Ferry farmsIn September 2010. Only three plants from two of the nine families survived through the winter and produced seedsin Pullman. Seed harvested from these three surviving plants were planted in Pullman for breeding andimprovement using a modified mass selection scheme in the following three years. In October 2014 this line(PF13802) was distributed to the Lundberg Family Farms under an ARS standard Plant Evaluation Agreement forfield evaluation for adaptability and yield. Based on the performance data collected in the past three consecutiveyears from replicated small plot, 200-feet strip and one-acre plot trials, respectively, this line is chosen to release tothe public for researchers and breeders to further select/ purify for cover crop development. V4 is susceptible tochocolate spots in California and displays substantial differences in plant height when planted in the states ofWashington (80-90 cm) and California (170-180 cm). For branching habit, each plant usually has two to fourbranches from the basal nodes, the pods were in cluster of one to three, with three to four and occasionally fiveseeds per pod, and the 100-seed weight ranges from 60 to 80 grams. V4 is still segregating for certainmorphological traits such as flower color (about 3-5% of the plants bear white flowers) and have mixed seed coatcolors of beige and purple. The reason is that faba bean is a partially open-pollinated crop and we did not take anyisolation measure to prevent cross pollination among these two lines with other breeding materials.1965219PI 688301
8PI 688302'V5'Vicia faba L. W62018CultivarA single plant in the border rows was selected for its tolerance to a probable herbicide drift that adversely affected the faba bean crop during the week of July 8, 2012. Almost all plants in the field showed a severe leaf curl phenotype while that single plant stood out with normal leaves. Seeds harvested from this plant were planted in 2013 for observation and selection for plants with desirable cover crop traits such as small seed and high biomass. Seeds harvested from the selected plants were planted again in 2014 and repeated the process of the previous year. In October 2014 this line (CS14322) was distributed to the Lundberg Family Farms under an ARS standard Plant Evaluation Agreement for field evaluation for adaptability and yield. Based on the performance data collected in the past three consecutive years from replicated small plot, 200-feet strip and one-acre plot trials, respectively, this line is chosen to release to the public for researchers and breeders to further select/ purify for cover crop development. V5 is susceptible to chocolate spots in California and displays substantial differences in plant height when planted in the states of Washington (85-95 cm) and California (170-190 cm). V5 plants tend not to branch, have strong stems bearing pods in bunches of two to four, with three to five seeds per pod, and the seed size is relatively small with a 100-seed weight of approximately 35 to 40 grams. Small seed is a preferred trait for use as a cover crop. V5 is still segregating for certain morphological traits such as flower color (about 3-5% of the plants bear white flowers) and have mixed seed coat colors of beige and purple. The reason is that faba bean is a partially open-pollinated crop and we did not take any isolation measure to prevent cross pollination between this line with other breeding materials.1965220PI 688302

Testing at Brewton, Tallassee and Winfield, AL, in the seasons 1998-99 and 2001-02, showed that forage dry matter yield of AU Olympic was consistently higher than Cahaba White. In 1999, had an average forage dry matter yield 21% higher than Cahaba, and in 2002, was 12.8% higher. Seedlings have green epicotyls and the plants are semi-prostrated with single white flowers. Flowers on the average about the same time as Cahaba White. Seeds have 30-53% orange cotyledons whereas seeds of Cahaba White have 90-99% orange cotyledons. Seeds tend to be smaller than those of Cahaba White. The 1000 seed weight ranged between 45.5 and 75.8 g whereas Cahaba White seed weight ranged between 52.1 and 82.5 g depending on the sample and location.1706701PI 643132
