Descriptors
Category: COMMENT
  1. COMMENT (COMMENT) Casual observations made by cooperators or curators while evaluating or regenerating germplasm. Usually these observations are not published and need verification.
Category: GROWTH
  1. DAYS TO END OF FLOWERING (DEF) Days from planting date to the last flower on each plant.
  2. DAYS TO HARVEST (DH) Days from planting date to harvesting date.
  3. DAYS TO MATURITY (DM) Computed with the formula: DM = DH - DEF
  4. DAYS TO STEM ELONGATION (DSE) Days from planting date to stem elongation for 50% of all plants in the two central rows of each plot.
  5. DAYS TO START OF FLOWERING (DSF) Days from planting date to the first visible flower on each plant.
  6. FLOWERING RANGE (FR) Computed with the formula: DEF = DSF - DEF
  7. PLANT HEIGHT IN CM (PH) Measured from the soil surface to the natural top of the plant, at the end of flowering.
  8. DAYS STEM ELONGATION TO FLOWER (RSEDSF) Range between days to stem elongation and days to start of flowering, computed with the formula: RSEDSF = DSF-DSE
Category: MORPHOLOGY
  1. ANTHOCYANINS IN THE PETALS (ANPE) Petal color scored during flowering.
  2. ANTHOCYANINS ON THE STEM (ANST) Before flowering, coloration along the stem, at the basal part and nodes. On the basis of frequency of plants in a population.
  3. BLADE SHAPE OF BASAL LEAF (Blade Shape BSBL) Blade shape of the longest basal leaf at the onset of flowering.
  4. INSERTION ANGLE BASAL LEAF (HBL) Insertion angle of the longest basal leaf At the onset of flowering, arrangement of basal leaves in relation to the stem (prostrate vs. erect).
  5. LENGTH OF LONGEST BASAL LEAF (LLBL) Measured at the onset of flowering.
  6. NUMBER OF BASAL LEAVES (NBL) Total number of basal leaves, counted at the onset of flowering.
  7. NUMBER OF UMBELS (NU) The umbels per plant, counted at harvest time.
  8. SHAPE OF THE FRUIT (SF) After fruit threshing and cleaning a bulk of fruits, fruit shape was scored.
Category: PRODUCTION
  1. HUNDRED SEED WEIGHT (100SEEDWGT) The weight in grams of 100 seeds.
  2. PERCENTAGE OF SPLIT FRUIT/ WT (PSF) Percentage of split fruit (PSF) on a weight basis.
  3. PLANT YIELD, GRAMS OF SEEDS (PY) A bulk of fruits from the harvest of ten plants weighed, in grams, after fruit threshing and cleaning. The harvest weight from ten plants is divided by ten.
  4. WEIGHT OF 1000 FRUITS IN GRAMS (W1000F) A single sample of 500 whole fruits from a bulk from ten plants was weighed and multiplied by two.
Category: QUALITY
  1. ESSENTIAL OIL CONTENT IN % (EOCP) Essential-oil content percentage from dried fruits, obtained by hydrodistillation.
  2. FATTY ACID CONTENT IN % (FAC) A 0.5 g sample of dried fruits analyzed for fatty acids percentage by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
