Phelps. Originated in Geneva, N.Y., by Richard Wellington, New York State Agriculture Experiment Station. Introduced in 1925. Winter Nelis x Russet Bartlett; cross made in 1912. Fruit: skin color duller than Bartlett; flesh juicy, tender, pleasant vinous flavor; ripens 1 month later than Bartlett, and keeping until Christmas.
