Locality: Turkey River Wildlife Management Area located approximately 2.9 miles south, southeast of Cresco along Kings Road. T98N R11W NW ¼ Sec. 1 Howard County.

Environment description: Very floristically diverse, hardwood, deciduous woods of Turkey Creek watershed. Growing in association with Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Quercus ellipsodalis, Quercus rubra, Quercus alba, Acer negundo, Acer saccharum, Celtis occidentalis, Sambucus canadensis, Ulmus sp., Populus grandidentata, Rhamnus cathartica, and Lonicera tatarica.
Number of plants sampled: 2
Comment: Sampled 2 specimens both approximately 30-40’ in height and 5” d.b.h. Noted approximately 15 specimens of F. nigra of similar age and height and numerous (75+ small saplings). Samaras were just starting to turn from green to brown. Timing of collection approximately 10-12 days prior to peak maturity. The distance between the two specimens collected is approximately 0.25 miles.
