Narrative
Rondo is a long grain indica cultivar with intermediate plant height averaging 100 cm and intermediate maturity averaging 95 days to heading. The plant is pubescent (hairy) at maturity and the spikelets are straw colored and generally awnless. Rondo has comparable yield potential with Francis and Wells. It is highly resistant to 11 common races of blast (Magnaporthe oryzae) disease in the US and contains the Pi-b major blast resistance gene. Also, it is resistant to narrow brown leaf spot [Cercospora janseana (Racib) O.], fairly resistant to kernel smut (Neovossia horrida) and leaf smut (Entyloma Oryzae), and moderately resistant to sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani), bacterial panicle blight (Burkholderia glumae) and black sheath rot (Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis). Rondo has high amylose content (25%) that is found in superior parboiling cultivars like Dixiebelle and Sabine. This trait is associated with the presence of the CT11 (105 nt) allele of the Waxy gene as identified by the RM190 microsatellite marker on chromosome 6. This allele is associated with significantly high hot paste and cool paste viscosities as measured by the Rapid Visco Analyzer. Rondo has a low gelatinization temperature as indicated by an alkali spreading value of 7 at 1.7% KOH. The grain is non-glutinous and covered with a light brown pericarp.

Comment:
some seed lots of domesticated rice may contain contaminants of a noxious weed hybrid-form that are not distinguishable by seed visualization, which is responsible for the rice-growing state's noxious-weed seed regulations indicated below
