Narrative

The most desirable trait of this tree is its weeping habit. Ornamental. Height about 3.0m if trained to 1.8m. Fruit medium to small-sized, black, sweet. Productive. Information from Cornucopia, Cultivar Listings, page 392: Medium-sized, black fruit; sweet and pleasant. Tree umbrella-shaped, weeps to the ground; semi-dwarf; about 12 feet [3.658m], 12 to 14 feet [3.658 to 4.267m] wide when mature; long-lived; highly productive; very ornamental. Information from Seed Savers, page 378: Grown mainly as an ornamental. Pink to purple fruit. Vigorous growing, dense, weeping tree; slender branches cascade down to the ground. Forms and interesting twisted branching pattern. Glossy, dark green foliage. Tolerant to drought and polluted areas. Suitable for silkworm production. Hardy in Zone 4.
