Narrative
Rhenus 1 (Pyrodwarf ) (PI 617654) --A precocious, dwarfing rootstock from Germany. Origin: Cross of Old Home x Bonne Louise made by Helmut Jacob at Geisenheim, Germany in 1980. North American propagation rights assigned to Tree Connection, Dundee, Oregon. US Plant Patent 11,041 issued 24 August, 1999 to Helmut B. Jacob, Geisenheim, Germany. . Tree: Non-suckering, good compatibility, produces a tree intermediate to Quince A and Quince C, about 40% the size of a tree on pear seedling rootstock; moderate resistance to fire blight. Found to induce high yield efficiency with Bartlett scions, and to have good anchorage and winter cold hardiness in German trials. - Brooks and Olmo Register of Fruit and Nut Varieties
