Narrative
Information from Cornucopia, Cultivar Listings, page 392: Fruit medium-sized, 1 1/8 inches [2.858cm] long, 1/2 inch [1.27cm] in diameter; pink; sweet, with no tartness. Tree wide-spreading; hardy and productive; appears to be mostly M. alba. This is not the cultivar which has been widely sold under the name Downing in the past. Information from Seed Savers, page 376: Heavy bearer of large, sweet, pink berries with no tartness. Makes excellent pies and jams. Medium size, graceful, wide spreading tree; grows 15 feet [4.57m] tall in sun or shade. Hardy and productive; long-lived and trouble free. Requires very little maintenance.
