Plants large, vigorous, upright, productive, flowers late, large, dull greenish red, heavily pubescent, fruit midseason, ripens evenly, clusters often very long, loose, well filled tips, 8-14 berries, berries variable in size averaging large, cling w ell, roundish, dull black, skin glandular, thin, opaque, flesh greenish, juicy, rich, sprightly becoming sweet, aromatic, quality very good.
Considered in England to be the best all-around black currant. One of Hatton's four main R. nigrum gro ups (1920).
