JE 109 (PI 464726), JE 110 (PI 464727) are single plant collections and JE 111 (PI 464728) is a population collection obtained along a roadbank at the same site. Purple flowered M. caerulea and yellow-flowered M. falcata were growing together. Yellow flowered types were collected. Some speculation regarding the liklihood that M. caerula and diploid M. falcata may be hybridizing naturally in this environment. Bud samples were taken to check ploidy level of the M. falcata plants. All [samples] have bright yellow flowers and falcate pods. All are low growing, possibly diploid. (Collector note, J.H. Elgin Jr.).
