Narrative
pistachio 85 rootstock terebinthus. Selection (0-42-9). From PI 137710. Same source as No. 84 above. For commercial trial and especially for use in a breeding program. Received as PI 137710 and later renumbered. Originally these two were labelled by the PI Station, Chico staff as the million dollar seedlings. They arrived during World War II after a long trip by diplomatic pouch. Their parent seeds were exceptionally large and only 2 seedlings were produced.
