Narrative
A protected weed in corn fields in a Tepehuan Indian village where Mestizos and Tarahumara Indians also farm. Not seen in surrounding oak-grasslands. Same locality as collected earlier by Lumholtz, Correll, Gentry (USDA PI), and Wilkes (USDA PI). Duplicate of this now at CIMMYT. Considered a tolerated weed because the corn planted where it grows reportedly produces better the following year.
