Narrative

Type = Peach. Per Okie: "Flowers midseason; petiole gland reniform; fruit flesh white, melting texture; large, free stone; ripens late. Has sweet kernel." Per Hedrick's Cyclopedia of Hardy Fruits," (see citation): "Tree medium in size, vigorous, compact, tender to cold, productive...Flowers large, deep rose. Fruit late, large, round-oval, heart-shaped at the base; color pale green, purplish-red or almost violet in the sun; flesh white, melting, sweet, rich, aromatic, delicious; quality very good; stone...with a kernel similar in taste to that of the sweet almond." Per 'Fruit Growing in South Africa', pg. 214: "Size large, shape roundish oval, skin light green in shade turning to deep red on the sunny side, flesh white, juicy, tender, with a flavour supposed to be the best of all nectarines. Ripens late Februrary. One of the bes t export varieties."
