Stalk diameter was measured at the middle of the second (27.5 mm), fifth (25.3 mm), and tenth (17.1 mm) internodes from the ground. CP 12-1753 exhibited a cylindrical shaped internode and a growth ring with a mean width of 4.2 mm at the fifth internode from the ground. The root band was 7.3 mm wide. Bud furrows were absent. The stalk buds were yellow (2.5Y8/4) round shaped. The 10-stalk's means of bud length and width of the fifth bud from the the ground were 6.6 and 5.8 mm, respectively. Leaf sheath pubescence was Glaborous. CP 12-1753 is resistant to brown rust (caused by Puccinia melanocephala H. & P. Sydow), orange rust (caused by Puccinia kuehnii E.J.
