Select the tab for the type of search. Each tab has everything you need to do to perform that type of search.

(Results of more than 500 will not return images.)

This search will show only accessions that have material that may be requested, including those not seasonally available.
You may list accessions with separators (commas or semicolons, as shown below) or by entering them on separate lines, such as
PI 651794
PI 651649
PI 651650
When searching a range of accessions, use the Advanced Search tab with the Accession Identifier Range criterion.

The more information you provide, the better the search will be.

0PI 692639'Butta 12'Hordeum vulgare L. subsp. vulgare California, United StatesNSGCKERNELS2020DEVELOPEDCultivarButta 12 is a malting barley released by the Univ. of Calif. (Davis) adapted to growing conditions in the Central Valley of California. It is a spring barley meant for late fall (Nov.-Dec.) planting, and is the first malting barley to complete pilot-scale malting done by Admiral Mailings in Alameda, CA. Butta 12 has a moderately high kernel -.wight and uniform kernel size evidenced by the high percentage of kernels retained when sieved on a 6/64" screen. Plant height varies between 88 and 100 cm and Butta 12 is about 6 cm taller than UC Tahoe. Butta 12 is more prone to lodging under higher levels of productivity. Butta 12 has a significantly higher kernel weight (about 5mg) than does UC Tahoe. For days to heading from March 1 (+32.5d) Butta 12 is about 3 days earlier than UC Tahoe. The Butta 12 rachis is about 13.7 cm long with long rough, purple-tipped awns that exceed the length of the rachis at maturity. The awns of UC Tahoe are shorter than the length of the spike. Butta 12 has short rachilla hairs. The kernels have white aleurones and are plump with acceptable test weight. Butta 12 has moderate resistance to Cereal Yellow Dwarf Virus and Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus. Butta 12 is moderately susceptible to stripe rust (P. striiformis, Westend), and moderately resistant to powdery mildew (E. graminis), net blotch (D. teres), scald (R. secalis), and leaf rust (P. hordei). Over 100 tons of Butta 12 have been pilot malted and sold to craft brevvers in Californian (as of May 2018) whereas UC Tahoe has yet to complete pilot malting. Both varieties were created by Lynn Gallagher who made the crosses and the final selections. 2098736PI 692639
