| 0 | PI 687326 | 'CLJ01' | Oryza sativa L. | Louisiana, United States | PVPO | | Not Available | 2018 | DEVELOPED | | | | | | Cultivar | CLJ01 is a semidwarf, aromatic long-grain Clearfield experimental rice line with excellent grain yield and quality. It was developed by using a pedigree selection system at the LSU AgCenter’s Rice Research Station (RRS) in Rayne, Louisiana. CLJ01 was selected from the cross JZMN/08CLR004//RU0802146/3/RU1002146, which was made at the H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station (RRS) in 2010. The line was derived from a single panicle selection from an F3 row (13-22709) made at the RRS in 2013. CLJ01 was evaluated in the Clearfield Jazzman Preliminary Yield Trial at the Rice Research Station in 2015 with the experimental designation CLPYJ027 before being entered into the three multi-location yield tests, including the Cooperative Uniform Regional Rice Nurseries (URN), the Clearfield Multi-location test, and the Clearfield Jazzman test in 2016 with the designation RU1602088. CLJ01 averaged 38 inches in height in yield tests across Louisiana, which is the same height as CL151 and one taller than CL111 and CL153. At 85 days to 50% heading, it is three days later than CL111 and CL153 and one day later than CL151. The leaves, lemma and palea of CLJ01 are glabrous. The spikelet and apiculus are straw-colored and the grain is aromatic. CLJ01 has a Jazzman-grain cooking quality with low amylose content and low gelatinization temperature. The average amylose content of CLJ01 is 13.0 compared with 23.5 for CL151, 22.4 for CL111 and 22.8 for CL153. The average alkali spread value of 1602088, CL111, CL151, and CL153 are 6.2, 4.2, 4.0 and 4.2, respectively. CLJ01 is moderately susceptible to blast and susceptible to sheath blight and bacterial panicle blight. Variants observed and removed from increase fields of CLJ01 included any combination of the following: pubescent, taller, shorter, later, earlier, short-, medium- and intermediate-grain types, gold, purple and black hull and sterile panicle. The total numbers of variants were less than 1 per 5000 plants. | 1963311 | PI 687326 |
