The large, well-photographed mass planted in front of the Capitol Columns monument was not documented officially until 2017, when it was surmised to be mostly or entirely comprised of NA 75492 from North Creek Nursery; however, other qualifiers of that accession have been uniformly A. hubrichtii, and this mass is a very heterogeneous mixture of what appear to be pure A. hubrichtii as well as hybrids with much broader leaves and varying flower color, size, presentation, and overall plant size and height (these hybrids possibly involving A. tabernaemontana, A. rigida, or some other species). The hybrids appear to be the same age as the other plants as of 2022, and may then date to the original planting circa 2006 following Angela Palmer's design, but it is possible that they have interbred and reseeded at the Arboretum over time. -SBL2155145NA 87104
