(Results of more than 500 will not return images.)

This search will show only accessions that have material that may be requested, including those not seasonally available.
You may list accessions with separators (commas or semicolons, as shown below) or by entering them on separate lines, such as

From PI book: "399136 to 399160. Cryptomeria japonica (L. f.) D. Don Pinaceae. Common cryptomeria. From Japan. Plants presented by Aritaki Arboretum, Koshigaya-Shi, Saitama-Ke. Received January 27, 1975. [...] 399136. 'Bamdai'. Local name Eternal sugi." 1. Cryptomeria japonica var. nana name change per J.L.Creech. 2. Cryptomeria japonica 'Bandai' or 'Chabo Sugi'* Note: *(v. nana Carr.?) Eternal Sugi. 2nd ID by S. Martin (10/93) thinks this 'Bandai Sugi' [11/22/2016 note: The (mature?) plant currently in the collection cannot be the dwarf 'Bandai-sugi'. Its open, upright architecture with long, thick branches and tight tufts of branchlets along the stems is unusual and does not match descriptions of other cultivars, although it is closer to some descriptions of 'Enko-sugi'. However, most sources relate 'Enko-sugi' to 'Araucarioides' and a number of other, similar cultivars, and these (as currently grown) do not match this accession. Possibly a sport. We're going to say that this is an undetermined cultivar that needs further research. -SBL and JGM]2158615PI 399136

Later accession notes: [Cryptomeria japonica 'Kon Sugi' = Velvet Sugi.] [Cryptomeria japonica 'Birodo Sugi' or 'Kon Sugi' per Yinger 1985]. The plant material in the collection at present (2017) matches most descriptions of 'Compressa'; the photograph in the RHS Encyclopedia of Conifers, however, appears to be incorrect (possibly 'Vilmoriniana' misidentified). -SBL2158616PI 399137
