Boufford to Theodore R. Dudley regarding misidentification of this accession, received May 5, 1988: "One misidentification you might be interested in knowing about is in the herb garden where Boehmeria biloba Weddell is labeled B. nivea. Boehmeria nivea has the leaves very white on the undersurface and does not have any of the leaves cleft at the apex: B. biloba has some of the leaves cleft at the apex and green beneath. The texture of the leaves in the two species is also quite different." The accession's removal was attempted in 1990 due to a lack of known herbal uses; the plant is still alive (and thriving) as of September 2017. -SBL2145043NA 44052
