NA 87330NA 87330Skimmia japonica Thunb. NANot Available2023Uncertain improvement statusOld plants recorded at the U.S. National Arboretum as Skimmia sp., but likely to be S. japonica or a hybrid of that species. Mass of three or four old plants with relatively large, broad leaves in the northeastern part of bed AC-J-06 that have not had known records for many years; there is a chance that these could be old NA 11287, S. japonica that John Creech collected from the wild on Yakushima, Japan, which were once growing nearby in old bed H (it is possible that these were relocated when paths were shifted). NA 87332 in bed AC-J-07 could be another candidate location for the current whereabouts of that old accession, but they would have been transplanted there if that is the case.2168776NA 87330
NA 87331NA 87331Skimmia japonica Thunb. NANot Available2023Uncertain improvement statusOld plants recorded at the U.S. National Arboretum as Skimmia sp., but likely to be S. japonica or a hybrid of that species. An old mass, possibly originating from a single plant, with relatively large leaves, that was marked on old maps of GCA Collection bed F (later part of bed AC-J-04) without any number or identity other than "Skimmia." Because this was recorded around the same time as some other, known accessions, it is presumed to have had its record lost relatively early. The plant is growing near, but not quite at, the corner of the bed across from the north end of bed AC-J-07.2168777NA 87331
NA 87332NA 87332Skimmia japonica Thunb. NANot Available2023Uncertain improvement statusOld plants recorded at the U.S. National Arboretum as Skimmia sp., but likely to be S. japonica or a hybrid of that species. An old, relatively healthy-looking mass with somewhat narrow leaves (possibly all Skimmia japonica) growing at the northern end of bed AC-J-07 across from the corner of bed AC-J-04 and across from bed AC-J-08. There does not seem to be any indication of this planting on the old maps of GCA Collection bed G (later bed AC-J-07). As with NA 87330, there is a chance that these could be old NA 11287, S. japonica that John Creech collected from the wild on Yakushima, Japan, which were once growing nearby in old bed H; however, they would have been transplanted to this location if that is the case.2168778NA 87332

RRUT 494RRUT 494Skimmia japonica Thunb. Hawaii, United States Historic1994DONATED07/1994Cultivated materialThis accession is being added for historical inventory reasons. Apparently 1 plant was received from a now unknown source in Hawaii. It did not establish and was inactivated shortly thereafter. (RR Krueger, 12/15/2011)1895466RRUT 494
RRUT 492RRUT 492Skimmia japonica Thunb. England, United Kingdom Historic1994DONATED04/08/1994Cultivated materialThis was received as Skimmia sp. At some point, someone (Tim Williams or Chris Corbett) decided this was S japonica and since Skimmia sp is not in GRIN, it is entered as Skimmia japonica. Since this taxon is outside NCGRCD responsibility, it was sent to the National Arboretum (Shawn Belt) in 1996. It does not currently appear to be active at NA so it is entered as an inactive accession for historical reasons and for local database management. There was possibly another Skimmia introduced from Hawaii but the old records are poor and so it is included with this taxon in the local database for adminsitrative reasons.
