Cultivar
Full name as recorded at U.S. National Arboretum: Sequoia sempervirens 'Los Altos'. Green selection made and introduced by Saratoga. A tree with luxuriant intensely rich-green foliage, distinctly glossy or waxy, the color persisting through the winter. Needles are abundant, broad, in two flat ranks along the stems. New foliage is soft, a glossy lighter green in pleasing contrast. Growth is symmetrical, strong, and vigorous with horizontal branches, the smaller branches weeping. Selected and introduced by the Saratoga Hort. Foundation. Source to Dr. Meyer: Re-label the new plants which are presently labelled Sequoia sempervirens 'Los Altos'.
