| 0 | PI 705446 | 'CAT-A1' | Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum (Desf.) van Slageren | California, United States | NSGC | | | 2024 | DEVELOPED | | | | | | Breeding material | CAT-A1 is a durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. durum( Desf.) Husnot.) line monogenic for the Sr13d allele conferring resistance to wheat stem rust, caused by Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Eriks and E. Henn (Pgt). The allele Sr13d in CAT-A1 originated from durum wheat line Camadi Abdu tipo #103 (PI 192168) through a single backcross (BC1) with Marruecos 9623. Like the three Rusty (PI 639869) near isogenic lines for the other three Sr13 alleles (Sr13a, Sr13b, and Sr13c), CAT-A1 has black chaff, but it is shorter in height and has better straw strength than Rusty near-isogenic lines. A set of 15 Pgt races KCCJC, RCCNC, QCCJC, QTHJC, QCFSC, RTQQC, TCMJC, TPPKC, TPMKC, TTTTF, JRCQC, TTKSK (Ug99), TTKTT, TKTTF, and TTRTF was used to test CAT-A1 for stem rust resistance. CAT-A1 is moderately resistant to 10 races, but it is susceptible to TCMJC, TPPKC, TTKSK and TKTTF, with a mixed reaction to TTKTT. Among the four Sr13 alleles, Sr13d is the only Sr13 allele ineffective to TTKSK, it should be avoided for use in breeding. | 2167910 | PI 705446 |
| 1 | PI 705447 | 'Rusty-14803' | Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum (Desf.) van Slageren | California, United States | NSGC | | | 2024 | DEVELOPED | | | | | | Breeding material | Rusty-14803 is a durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. durum( Desf.) Husnot.) near-isogenic line carrying allele Sr13b of stem rust resistance gene Sr13 in the background of Rusty (PI 639869), a durum wheat genetic stock that is near-universally susceptible to wheat stem rust. The allele Sr13b in Rusty-14803 originated from T. turgidum ssp. polonicum accession CItr 14803 through six backcrosses with Rusty as recurrent parent. Rusty-KLB is morphologically indistinguishable from Rusty and two other Sr13 near-isogenic lines Rusty-KLB and Rusty-ST464C1, carrying Sr13a and Sr13c alleles, respectively. Rusty-14803 has black chaff and is classified as very tall for height and very late for heading compared with modern durum wheat varieties. A set of 15 races KCCJC, RCCNC, QCCJC, QTHJC, QCFSC, RTQQC, TCMJC, TPPKC, TPMKC, TTTTF, JRCQC, TTKSK (Ug99), TTKTT, TKTTF, and TTRTF of stem rust pathogen Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Eriks and E. Henn was used to test Rusty-14803 for stem rust resistance. Rusty-14803 is moderately resistant to nine of the races, but it is ineffective against six races KCCJC, RCCNC, QCCJC, QFCSC, JRCQC and TTRTF. | 2167911 | PI 705447 |
| 2 | PI 705448 | 'Rusty-KLB' | Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum (Desf.) van Slageren | California, United States | NSGC | | | 2024 | DEVELOPED | | | | | | Breeding material | Rusty-KLB is a durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. durum( Desf.) Husnot.) near-isogenic line carrying the Sr13a allele of stem rust resistance gene Sr13 in the background of Rusty (PI 639869), a durum wheat genetic stock that is near-universally susceptible to wheat stem rust. The allele Sr13a in Rusty-KLB originated from cultivated emmer wheat (T. turgidum ssp. dicoccum) landrace Khapli (CItr 4013). Rusty-KLB is morphologically indistinguishable from Rusty and two other near-isogenic lines Rusty-14803 and Rusty-ST464C1, carrying Sr13b and Sr13c alleles, respectively. Rusty-KLB has black chaff and it is classified as very tall for height and very late for heading compared with modern durum wheat varieties. A set of 15 races KCCJC, RCCNC, QCCJC, QTHJC, QCFSC, RTQQC, TCMJC, TPPKC, TPMKC, TTTTF, JRCQC, TTKSK (Ug99), TTKTT, TKTTF, and TTRTF of stem rust pathogen Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Eriks and E. Henn was used to test Rusty-KLB for stem rust resistance. Rusty-KLB (Sr13a) is moderately resistant to 14 of the races, but it is only susceptible to single race TCMJC. | 2167912 | PI 705448 |
| 3 | PI 705449 | 'Rusty-ST464C1' | Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum (Desf.) van Slageren | California, United States | NSGC | | | 2024 | DEVELOPED | | | | | | Breeding material | Rusty-ST464C1 is a durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. durum( Desf.) Husnot.) near-isogenic line carrying allele Sr13c of stem rust resistance gene Sr13 in the background of Rusty (PI 639869), a durum wheat genetic stock that is near-universally susceptible to wheat stem rust. The allele Sr13c in Rusty ST464C1 originated from durum wheat line ST464-C1 through six backcrosses with Rusty as recurrent parent. Rusty-ST464C1 is morphologically indistinguishable from Rusty and two other Sr13 near-isogenic lines Rusty-KLB and Rusty-ST14803 carrying Sr13a and Sr13b alleles, respectively. Rusty-ST464C1 is classified as very tall for height and very late for heading compared with modern durum wheat varieties. A set of 15 races KCCJC, RCCNC, QCCJC, QTHJC, QCFSC, RTQQC, TCMJC, TPPKC, TPMKC, TTTTF, JRCQC, TTKSK (Ug99), TTKTT, TKTTF, and TTRTF of stem rust pathogen Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Eriks and E. Henn was used to test Rusty-ST464C1 for stem rust resistance. Rusty-ST464C1 (Sr13c) is moderately resistant to all 15 races tested. Sr13c is a preferred allele for breeding resistance to stem rust in wheat. | 2167913 | PI 705449 |
