The mean internode length was 20.2 cm. The stalk diameters at the upper, middle, and lower internodes were 20.6 mm, 26.6 mm, and 31.6 mm. The internode shape was cylindrical. The buds on the stalks were round with a central germ pore. The bud color was 2.5 GY 8/2. The leaf blades were about 154.8 cm; leaf midribs were 4.7 mm. Leaf-sheaths pubescence was light. The midrib color on the adaxial leaf side was white, and on the abaxial leaf side was the shade of greenish yellow 2.5 GY 8/2. Auricles were present and were squarish on both sides. One auricle was 7 mm, and the other was 8.9 mm long. The color of the auricles was translucent greenish yellow (5 GY 6/4). The dewlap below the top visible dewlap was descending deltoid. The shape of the ligule was crescent with lozenge. The ligule color was greenish yellow (7.5 GY 4/4). CP 15-2516 flowers intermittently in Florida.CP 15-2516 was resistant to brown rust, caused by Puccinia melanocephala, and it does have a Bru 1 marker associated with brown rust resistance and was also resistant to orange rust caused by P. kuehnii, and sugarcane mosaic virus strain E. CP 15-2516 had an acceptable level of resistance to leaf scald caused Xanthomonas albilineans and ratoon stunt disease caused by Liefsonia xyli subsp xyli, smut caused by Sporisorium scitamineum, and yellow leaf caused by Sugarcane yellow leaf virus at its release. It had an intermediate freeze tolerance.2158499PI 703029
