Annual cultivar of lemon basil derived from four cycles of selfing and selection, distinct from other commercial lemon basils due to its high citral content. Its round shape makes this cultivar an attractive ornamental and culinary herb. Plant can be used fresh in floral arrangements for interior decoration or dried in potpourris. Dry leaves/flowers can be used alone or in mixtures to prepare herbal teas or as a spice to flavor foods and beverages. Plant grows well in containers both indoors and outdoors. Large ovate leaves (8.1 cm long, 4.2 cm wide), and uniform light-green color. Plants tall (75 cm), bushy (70 cm wide) and bloom at about 75-78 days after planting. Inflorescences are slim and long (35-45 cm) with small white flowers in rosettes or whorls of six spaced 2.5 cm along the stiff rachis. Blooming is profuse and lasts around 20-25 days. Seed is black and mucilaginous (100 seeds weighs 0.a9 grams). Vegetative propagation is easily done. Annual plant can be pruned back and kept vegetative for long time periods. the high citral contend is the essential oil (60-76% of the total oil) results in a distinct and intense lemon aroma with a subtle floral note.1482151PI 584458
