Rosetta was developed using pedigree selection to the F4 generation followed by pure line selection for disease, agronomic and quality traits. Rosetta has an upright short vine habit that combines improved lodging resistance, mid-full season maturity with disease resistance and acceptable canning quality. In 4-yr of field trials, Rosetta yielded (2800 kg ha-1), and data was recorded for plant height (54 cm), lodging resistance (1.8) and seed size (35.5 g 100 seed-1). Rosetta is most similar to `Sedona? pink cultivar. Both cultivars are resistant to bean common mosaic virus; Rosetta carries the I gene whereas Sedona carries the bc-12 gene. Both cultivars possess the same type-II indeterminate growth habit but Rosetta does not exhibit the stem breakage problem that can occur in Sedona. Rosetta has a white flower and flowers in 43 d and matures in 96 d one day later than Sedona. Rosetta has acceptable canning quality equivalent to Sedona. | 1900781 | PI 665011 |
