Adapted to the Western and Midwestern U.S. Selected from a bulk lot of barley obtained from the south shore of the Black Sea in Asiatic Turkey. Apparently the bulk originated in Trebizond, Asiatic Turkey. The name for the variety was derived form this latter city. The selection now known as Trebi was made by H.V. Harlan in 1909.
