WHEAT.DBUNT.GREENCANYON.08

Evaluation location: Utah, United States
Reaction to Dwarf Bunt (TCK) in wheat. The nursery was seeded into moist soil on Oct. 8, 2007 and all rows had good stands going into winter in early Nov. when the nursery was inoculated by spraying a water suspension of teliospores onto the soil surface. The nursery had continuous snow cover for approximately 3.5 months which induced extreme dwarf bunt disease pressure. Snow cover was present until about mid March which induced snow mold disease which likely influenced some entries resulting in some poor or very poor stands. Poor stands were likely a result of poor adaptability of some entries as well. Early summer was wet in this rain fed nursery but rain was very sparse during the remainder of the season. The early rains were sufficient to make a nice looking nursery that did not appear drought stressed. Order #190258.
