WHEAT.DBUNT.GREENCANYON.05

Evaluation location: Utah, United States
Reaction to Dwarf Bunt (TCK) in wheat. Green Canyon, Utah (near Logan). Planted October 5, 2004 into moist soil. Inoculated on November 9 with an aqueous suspension of teliospores representing a composite of pathogenic races from throughout the Pacific Northwest. On Nov. 9 the stands were excellent and plants were in the most susceptible 1-3 leaf stage going into winter. Sufficient snow covered the plots over the winter to cause extreme disease pressure (Susceptible check 'Cheyenne' averaged 95% infection). Plant stands were generally excellent in the spring, but plants were generaly small and poorly tillered at maturity (reflecting poor soil fertility). Order #167289.
