Reaction to Dwarf Bunt (TCK) in wheat. Green Canyon, Utah. Planted October 3, 2003 into very dry soil. The nursery has a considerable teliospore load in the soil from previous nurseries, but in addition the nursery was heavily inoculated on Oct. 31 with an aqueous suspension of a composite of pathogenic races from throughout the Pacific Northwest. There was a long period of snow cover on the nursery during the winter, but the majority of rows emerged very late beneath the snow, resulting in poor infection. The Cheyenne susceptible check exhibited erratic and low levels of infection, as a result.
