Reaction to Dwarf Bunt (TCK) in wheat. The nursery was seeded October 3, 2006 into moist soil. The nursery site has a considerable teliospore load in the soil from previous nurseries, but in addition, the nursery was heavily inoculated with an aqueous teliospore suspension consisting of a mixture of pathogenic races from throughout the Pacific Northwest. Stands were excellent going into winter and in the spring. Snow cover was somewhat erratic over the winter resulting in mediocre disease pressure compared to the usual high levels of disease pressure at the site, but there was sufficient pressure to cause an average of about 35% bunted spikes in the susceptible control Cheyenne. Timely rains during the spring and early summer produced nice looking plants. Order #182701.
