Barley Net Blotch. Single replicate field experiment. Stephen, Minnesota. Planted May 6, 2004. Disease assessment on July 29. Plots were inoculated by spreading infected straw at the base of plants at the mid-tillering stage of growth. Infected straw was collected from heavily infected barley plants grown during the previous season (2003) at the same site. Ratings were made on the percentage of leaf area affected by disease on a 0-100% rating scale and was converted to the 1-9 scale. The average severity disease severity on M61 (susceptible MN breeding line), Stander (susceptible MN cultivar), and resistant control (line NDB112), was 74% (GRIN Score=7), 75% (GRIN Score=7), and 1% (GRIN Score=1), respectively.
