Definition:

Leaf pubescence was characterized by examining lower (abaxial) leaf surfaces of leaves from each tree with a binocular microscope. Trichome density was subjectively rated as 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 corresponding to glabrous (few or none), light, moderate, dense, or very dense, respectively. Twenty leaves analyzed.
