Environment description: Very common on rocky cut-over hillsides, thickets, sun and shade. Elevation: ca 100 m.
Comment: Cut and resprouted dense twiggy broadleaved evergreen shrub ca 2 m tall; leaves unusually small, medium green, lustrous above, yellow-green, dull beneath; fruit dull light green, immature.

Comment: Open-pollinated seeds collected from NA 56593-03C1, -03C2, and/or -03C3 (these individuals were all raised from cuttings of NA 56593-003, which was growing at the U.S. Plant Introduction Station in Glenn Dale, Maryland). Species located in a nearby plot at the time of open pollination included Ligustrum foliosum and L. quihoui (var. latifolium).
