Locality: Thomson Causeway Recreation Area, approximately 1 mile southwest of Thomson. Scattered along Potter Road starting just east of the causeway heading west, and along the gravel service road to the south. T23N R3E SE 1/4 Sec. 26.

Environment description: Floodplain of wetland complex along east bank of Mississippi River. Soils are moist and seasonally inundated with high organic matter content.

Associated species: Ulmus americana, Ulmus rubra, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Vitis riparia, Urtica dioica, Quercus macrocarpa, Quercus palustris, Quercus alba, Quercus rubra, Carya ovata, Celtis occidentalis, Toxicodenron radicans, Gleditsia triacanthos, Fraxinus pennsylvannica, Acer saccharinum and Betula nigra.
