Elevation: 1670m.
Environment description: Growing on a steep, north-facing slope below a home as a single specimen.
Associated species: Growing near Juglans sp. and numerous unidentified herbaceous plants.
Comment: Description: Single-stemmed tree with irregular rounded habit, branching in the upper one-third of the tree; the tree is about 20 m tall with a DBH of 51.6 cm; the bark is dark black, deeply furrowed and blocky.

NOTE: it appears that a collection of Dipteronia sinensis (SHX 031) was mistakenly believed to be accessioned as NA 66771, and was recorded under that number in GRIN since 1995, but it was actually never accessioned. This number will serve as a placeholder for it, even though the seed never germinated. -SBL
