Description:
USDA-N7006 (previously designated as N09-13890) originated from a hybridization between N01-11136 and TCPR01-83. USDA-N7006 derives 37.5% of its pedigree from drought tolerant PI 416937 (12.5%) and PI 407859-2 (25%). TCPR01-83 is an offspring of drought tolerant line PI 407859-2 and Hutcheson (Buss et al., 1988). N01-11136 is derived from a hybridization between slow-wilting USDA-ARS breeding lines NTCPR94-5157 and N96-7031. NTCPR94-5157 was developed from a cross of ‘Davis’ (Caviness and Walters, 1966) and USDA-ARS breeding line N73-1102. N73-1102 is derived from a hybridization between ‘Tracy’ (Hartwig, 1974) and ‘Ransom’ (Brim and Elledge, 1973). N96-7031 is derived from the hybridization of USDA-ARS cultivar N7001 (Carter et al., 2003) and USDA-ARS breeding line N90-7241. N7001 is the progeny of slow-wilting PI 416937 and USDA-ARS breeding line N77-114. N77-114 is derived from a cross between ‘Essex’ (Smith and Camper, 1973) and N70-2153. The parents of N70-2173 were ‘Hampton’ (Brim and Elledge, 1973) x ‘Ransom.’ N90-7241 is derived from the hybridization of GaSoy 17 (Baker and Harris, 1979) and PI 416937.
