Narrative
Full name as recorded at U.S. National Arboretum: Chrysanthemum x marginatum (light yellow). Seedling (possibly, but unlikely, a sport) of C. pacificum /red selection/ (NA 63514-H) with light yellow ray florets - very distinct from pink-flowered form and other clones, and strongly fragrant with a honey-like scent. I found this in fall 2005 and watched one year to ensure sport stability. Plant (including its seed/sport-parent) is not pure C. pacificum. [Nomenclature updated in 2017 to reflect the truth of this situation; it is Chrysanthemum x marginatum, as demonstrated by the presence of ray florets. I originally considered this to be a sport, but given the number of differences from the parent accession, it is more likely a seedling crossed with a cultivated hybrid chrysanthemum in the garden. -SBL] Form received: division.
