Narrative
WA-LE1 carries a mutation for low erucic acid content from a line described by Ozseyhan et al., (2018), Plant Physiology and Biochemistry 123, 1-7. It also carries a mutation for tolerance to soil residual amounts of group 2 herbicides described in Walsh et al, (2012) Molecular Breeding 30, 1053–1063. It was selected for high yield and oil content in dryland eastern Washington growing environments.

Description:
A low erucic acid mutant (LE1914) in the Suneson background was crossed to a sibling line of WA-HT1 (Hulbert et al. 2018, Journal of Plant Registrations 12(2), 253-256.). A low erucic acid, herbicide tolerant line derived from this cross was then crossed to a herbicide tolerant breeding line derived from a cross between WA-HT1 and PI 650150. Finally, a line derived from this second cross was crossed to WA-HT1 and in later generations, WA-LE1 was selected as a line with low erucic acid, herbicide tolerance and good agronomics
