Locality: Cheaha Mountain (Cheaha State Park and Talladega National Forest), Cleburne County. Approximately 9 miles south of Oxford. Hydrangeas are along Cheaha Road, Highway 281 and Skyway Mountainway.

Associated species: Pinus sp., Quercus sp., Acer rubrum, Liquidambar styraciflua.
Comment: A huge continuous population (likely at least 500 - 1000 genotypes) covering 1.5 square miles. Locally very abundant. Collections made from 21 distinct plants across an area spanning latitude 33.460823 deg. N to 33.538883 deg. N and longitude 85.733296 deg. W to 85.836621 deg. W. The GPS coordinates provided refer to NA 86201.01/acc. 852, the first plant sampled in the population. GPS coordinates for each sampled plant are available upon request.
