Narrative
Lazaro has a determinate growth habit and plant height is < 2.0 m. Lazaro is insensitive to photoperiod and therefore can be planted year-round. Lazaro initiates flowering at 76 days after planting (OAP) in California and between 69 to 94 OAP in Puerto Rico and reaches maturity up to 149 OAP. Lazaro has flowers with petals of red color on the outside and yellow with uncolored stripes inside. Pods possess green color with brown marks with an average size of 7.8 x 0.8 cm. Lazaro produces an average of 64 to 190 pods per plant depending of the production region, and between 4-6 circular seeds per pod is mostly observed. Seeds are green at immature stages and beige at harvesting (17-18 g 100-1 dry-seed weight). Mean seed-yield of Lazaro varies from 338 to 1,091 kg ha-1 in Puerto Rico, and over 3,300 kg ha-1 in California.

Comment:
although the genus
Cajanus
DC. was formerly (Berlin ICBN App. IIIA) treated as conserved over the rejected
Cajan
Adans., since the Vienna ICBN the two are treated as orthographic variants, with
Cajanus
Adans. '
Cajan
the conserved spelling', such that Huth's binomial is no longer a tautonym (
Shenzhen ICN
Art. 23.4), his generic spelling being correctable under
Shenzhen ICN
Art. 61.4
