Environment description: Roadside collections on edges of woods on soils that were moist, rather loose with significant portions of gravel and/or sand.
Number of plants sampled: 5
Associated species: Juglans nigra, Carya ovata, Ostrya virginiana, Cornus drummondii, Acer negundo, Lonicera maackia, Quercus sp., Viburnum lentago, Vitis riparia, Juniperus virginiana, Prunus serotina, and Prunus americana.
Comment: Coordinates provided refer to central area of population sampled, specifically specimen 839-3. A total of five specimens sampled across a four to five square mile area. Coordinates for other specimens sampled may be provided upon request. Average distance between each specimen sampled is 1.4 miles. Two (839-2 and 839-4) out of five specimens were in good vigor with dense suckering and in heavy flower (e.g. about 6-14 days from peak flowering). The other three specimens (839-1, 839-3 and 839-5) were in poor health likely due to competition/shading and may not likely persist into the near future (e.g. 10-15 years).
