Environment description: Growing along edges of path in partial sun on a west facing slope. In association w/ Populus davidiana, Quercus liaotungensis, Lezpedeza bicolor and Spiraea pubescens.
Comment: SUB-COUNTRY GEO 2: Mentougou District; COLLECTOR'S NUMBER: BJG121; MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION ABOUT WILD COLLECTION: Wild-collected from several plants. Deciduous, broadspreading tree w/ one or more leaders 7-8m tall. Mature stems have grayish-black papery exfoliating bark, while younger stems prduce reddish brown and white exfoliation. 5 herbarium specimens collected.;
