Environment description: High-quality, wetland fen of Clear Creek watershed. Growing in association with Solidago speciosa, Gentiana alba, Salix candida, Salix pedicellaris, Spiranthes (either cernua or magnicamporum), Parnassia (likely glauca), Monarda fistulosa, Eutrochium maculatum, Prunella vulgaris, Impatiens capensis, Betula papyrifera (2 specimens noted), Betula hybrid (1 specimen noted, likely B. x sandbergii), and Helianthus grosseserratus.
Number of plants sampled: 75
Comment: Sampled approximately 75 specimens all within a 280’ x 90’ area (approximately 0.57 acres). Majority of specimens averaged approximately 5’ in height with the tallest specimens reaching 10’. Majority of leaves were glabrous. Timing of collection was just before peak maturity by approximately 4-5 days. Majority (75%) of fruiting catkins were still green, while the remaining percentage were brown and starting to shatter readily.
