Environment description: mesic, deciduous area, but heavily cut and browsed; open, east-running stream, upstream from point where small north-running stream of #044-045 flows into this larger stream, 30 degrees, N, organic, rocky loam,
Comment: Tree; height 5 meters, D.B.H. 10 centimeters; multi-stemmed. Bark smooth, gray. Leaves elliptic; serrate margins; 6 centimeters wide by 10 centimeters long. Fruit: catkin with bracts subtending seeds; 2 centimeters wide by 7 centimeters long., Collected from several plants., From G.Hibben and Oren McBee.,
