Narrative
TAM 06WE-621 was derived from the hybridization of four parents, DP 491/TAM 96WD-18//TAM 91C-95Ls/Deltapine Acala 90. It is competitive in lint yield in central and south Texas with DP 491 and FM 832. TAM 06WE-621 produces significantly stronger fibers than DP 491, FM 832, or Acala 1517-08. Fiber length of TAM 06WE-621 was longer (p<0.05) than DP 491 or FM 832. TAM 06WE-621produced50 count (50 Ne) mini-spun carded yarn 21% and 18% stronger than the strongest control in 2009 and 2010, respectively, and required 51 % and 19% more work to break, respectively. It averaged more and larger seeds per boll than comparison cultivars.
