Narrative
CN921-516 is a S1 line selected from greenhouse and field trials for resistance to sugar beet cyst nematode. Under greenhouse conditions, CN921-516 had a significantly lower cyst count (57.8) than the susceptible commercial check variety (303.3) (p< 0.05). In the Imperial Valley, CA it had a sugar beet cyst nematode canopy appearance score of 2.1 (moderately resistant) and was not significantly different than the resistant commercial check variety (p < 0.05).

Description:
CN921-306 is the progenitor ofCN921-516. CN921-306 is from composite crosses ofover60 sea beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. maritima) accessions with sugar beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris). Individual plants of 3921-306 were selfed and one line, 5921-306-516, was selected based on greenhouse and field trials for sugar beet cyst nematode, powdery mildew, and rhizomania. 5921-306-516 was increased and designated 7921-516, which was released as CN921-516.
