Narrative
This was received as Skimmia sp. At some point, someone (Tim Williams or Chris Corbett) decided this was S japonica and since Skimmia sp is not in GRIN, it is entered as Skimmia japonica. Since this taxon is outside NCGRCD responsibility, it was sent to the National Arboretum (Shawn Belt) in 1996. It does not currently appear to be active at NA so it is entered as an inactive accession for historical reasons and for local database management. There was possibly another Skimmia introduced from Hawaii but the old records are poor and so it is included with this taxon in the local database for adminsitrative reasons. (RR Krueger, 12/09/2011)
