Narrative
From Park Seed Company online catalog: Rounded, very glossy, dark red to nearly black fruit resembling cherries but with distinctive gooseberry flavor. Originating in the Ukraine, this variety is hardy to -40 degrees F and self-fertile. Resistant to powdery mildew. ( 04/01/2009)From One Green World online catalog: Red George features abundant crops of striking, very dark red, sweet and delicious fruit, which turns almost black when ripe. A valuable Ukrainian variety, Red George is an attractive, disease-resistant, easy to grow shrub.
