Environment description: Top of mountain, rocky and often with Engelman Spruce surrounding. Growing with and close to bushes of Sorbus angustifolia (S. scopulina).
Comment: Both Amelanchier #1329 (X Amelasorbus) and Sorbus angustifolia #1333 (S. scopulina) were rigorous bushes of equal height.

As for the original plant of the xAmelasorbus: Prof. John G. Jack made the collection (#1329) from Idaho as seed; 2 resulting seedlings became AA accessions 17943A and 17943B.
